Laser Hair Removal In Autumn/Winter
Many of us don’t consider doing laser hair removal in the winter since we often wear warmer clothing; however, autumn and winter are actually the perfect time to begin your full hair removal journey.
Starting laser hair removal in late autumn, early winter gets you ready for spring and can also give you better results.

Why Autumn/ Winter Is The Best Time
There are a few reasons as to why autumn is the best time to start laser hair removal.
One of the first is that sun exposure can interfere with laser hair removal results, resulting in unevenly toned skin.
Excessive sun exposure like tanning, is actually not recommended before laser hair removal since there is already sun-induced inflammation which the laser can worsen by introducing heat.
The cooler weather also makes it easier to cover from any redness and flaking after treatment.
Some other benefits of doing autumn laser hair removal are –
- You avoid any excessive sweating.
- You can stay covered up and avoid shaving.
- You’ll be smooth by summer.
- Winter has more predictable routines, minimising the chance of missing sessions.
- You can allow your hair to grow out before your appointment.

How Lasers Work
Laser hair removal can be used on nearly every part of the body, it uses light energy to destroy your hair follicles by targeting the melanin without damaging the surrounding skin.
Multiple sessions of laser are needed since hair grows in cycles, and laser only works when it’s treating hair in its active growth cycle. The number of sessions depends on your hair type and thickness.
What Is The Ice Soprano Laser?
At Hannah London, we offer the Soprano Ice Platinum treatment, which is one of the most advanced laser hair removal treatments.
It works by combining three laser wavelengths, which can target hairs at different depths and growth lengths. The ICE cooling technology also reduces the stinging that comes with traditional lasers since it keeps the skin cool during treatment.
Some key benefits of the Ice Soprano Laser are –
- Suitable for all skin types.
- Pain-free.
- Treats large areas.
- Quick sessions.
- Long-term results.
- Minimal side effects.
How To Prepare For Laser Hair Removal
If you’re looking to start your laser hair removal journey at Hannah London this autumn/winter, we recommend doing the following to prepare ahead of your appointment.
- Avoid waxing and plucking, but you can shave 24 hours before to keep the pigment in the hair follicles.
- Avoid direct sun exposure 2-6 weeks before and skip any tanning treatments.
- Do not apply any creams before your appointment.
- Cleanse and gently exfoliate 3 days before.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
You’ll want to avoid any tight clothing, hot water, and sun exposure 24 hours after your appointment and might experience some redness after. Wearing SPF is important after having a laser.

Can You Start In The Summer?
Laser hair removal can be started during the summer, but there is a higher risk of pigmentation and irritation due to the stronger UV rays.
You’ll need to wear a high SPF 50 if you do start laser hair removal during the summer and try to limit sun exposure for at least two weeks after each session.
How Many Full Laser Hair Removal Sessions Do I Need?
Each individual is different, but the majority of the clients need 6-8 laser hair removal sessions spaced around a month apart to achieve their desired results.
You may also need a maintenance session once or twice a year, it all depends on your hairs thickness and the treatment area.
