Profile balancing treatment

Profile balancing with dermal fillers is a personalised full-face treatment that is used to create balance between the nose, lip, and chin when viewed in profile (side view).

We often see patients who are interested in enhancing their lip shape, or in having a non-surgical rhinoplasty to recontour their nose. Sometimes patients don’t consider the overall balance of their facial features in profile. For example, they may have a retracted chin, which can make their nose appear longer, resulting in an unbalanced appearance.

We carefully assess your full facial profile, and your skin, to create a treatment plan that will achieve the best profile balancing result for you.

You will experience your treatment at one of our luxurious, award-winning London aesthetic clinics, led by Dr Kaywaan Khan.

We offer profile balancing treatment at our Harley Street and Colindale, London clinics, using only the best dermal filler brands, including Juvéderm, Restylane and Teoxane, carefully selected for your personal needs.

Profile balancing treatment benefits

We will work with you to achieve the facial profile you desire.

Through assessment of your full face, we will devise a personalised treatment plan to enhance your natural aesthetics, whilst minimising and disguising features that you’re unhappy with.

Your treatment might include lip enhancement, non-surgical rhinoplasty, cheek fillers or chin and jawline recontouring, according to your requirements.

  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty

Often referred to as a non-surgical nose job, with this treatment dermal fillers are carefully targeted to gently and subtly even out the appearance of any bumps on the nose, or fill any indentations.
For patients who have a crooked nose, perhaps due to injury or a natural asymmetry, dermal fillers can be used to correct this.
The result is a more flattering nose profile, which is in harmony with your overall facial features.

  • Cheek filler

Dermal fillers can be used to restore lost volume to the cheeks and to enhance contouring of the cheekbones for a more defined profile.
Cheek fillers have the added benefits of bringing back youthful fullness to the mid face, which has a lifting effect on the lower face.

  • Chin filler profile balancing

Dermal fillers are a non-invasive approach to subtly recontour the chin and jawline, without the need for surgical implants.
A recessive, or set-back, chin can lack definition and make other facial features, such as the nose, more prominent. A well-defined jawline, which is in proportion with your facial features, brings balance to your profile.

  • Lip enhancement

Whether you want to achieve a subtle plumping of the lips or create noticeable volume and definition, we can achieve your desired results with carefully targeted lip fillers.
If you are unhappy with your lip shape, or if there is an asymmetry to your lips, we can balance your lip shape and create a facial profile that you’re delighted with.
Because lip fillers are rich in hyaluronic acid, they are very hydrating. Not only will your lips appear plumper and fuller, they will feel beautifully soft and hydrated.

  • Treatment combination

Dermal fillers are often used in combination with botox for profile balancing.
Botox gently relaxes carefully targeted muscles to reduce expression-related lines and wrinkles.
It can also be used to achieve a slimmer, more oval jawline, where overactive muscle activity has caused the jawline to become squared in appearance.

  • Non-surgical treatment with no downtime

Dermal fillers offer a gentle, effective, non-surgical solution to profile balancing.
You can go on with your life as normal, with no downtime.

The science behind profile
balancing with dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are rich in hyaluronic acid. This naturally occurring substance in the body contributes to the structure and youthful fullness of the skin.

The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is gel-like in texture, so when injected into targeted areas, it restores volume and has a lifting, contouring effect in the skin.

Dermal fillers offer a gentle yet highly effective, non-surgical approach to contouring facial features to achieve balance and symmetry.

Dermal fillers are also deeply hydrating. Hyaluronic acid acts as a magnet for moisture, so your skin feels and appears hydrated, healthy and plump.

  • What is profile balancing with dermal fillers?

The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is a gel-like substance that adds volume to the skin and has a lifting, contouring effect on facial features.
Profile balancing with dermal fillers is a personalised full-face treatment that is used to create balance between the nose, lip, and chin areas of the face to create a pleasing profile.
Dermal fillers also deeply hydrate the skin to give a plump and healthy appearance.

  • Is profile balancing treatment safe?

Dermal fillers are usually safe and effective. There can be some risks as with any skin injectables. However, when dermal fillers are administered by a trained medical professional, risks are minimised.
The greatest risk of having filler treatment with an inexperienced practitioner is incorrect injection of the filler. If the filler enters a blood vessel, blood supply can be blocked to that part of the face. Incorrect filler injection can be reversed with a treatment to dissolve the filler.

  • Does dermal filler treatment for profile balancing hurt?

There may be slight discomfort during treatment, but this is minimised by the application of a topical anaesthetic cream beforehand.

  • What are the side effects of treatment with dermal fillers?

Most patients will experience some tenderness and swelling around the injection sites following their filler treatment. This should resolve within the first 24 hours, but it may continue for up to a week.

After this, you may notice some slight redness over a few days following treatment, whilst the skin is healing.

Any bruising that occurs can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. We recommend applying aloe vera gel/arnica ointment and cold packs to speed up recovery.

  • What aftercare is required?

Your practitioner will give you full information about any aftercare requirements following your treatment with fillers.

You should avoid touching the treatment area until 6 hours after the treatment. After this period, the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied.

Whilst the initial swelling and redness are healing, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (such as a solarium or sunbathing) or extreme cold.

For the first 4 hours following treatment, you should avoid bending or lying excessively. Vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours.

Download our dermal filler pre-treatment and aftercare leaflet for further information.

  • What are the pre-treatment requirements and advice?

You will have a pre-treatment health check with us to ensure your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.

Please inform us of any significant health problems or neuromuscular conditions you may have.

Dermal fillers may be unsuitable for you if you are taking certain medication.

Prior to your treatment taking place, to reduce any risk of infection, the treatment area should be hair and make-up free. Therefore, we advise that you should shave and remove any make-up before arriving at your appointment.

You may wish to take paracetamol one hour prior to arrival to minimise discomfort during the procedure. When you arrive at our clinic we may apply a numbing cream which can take up to 30 minutes to take effect.

Smoking or alcohol may affect the healing process. Therefore, these are best avoided prior to and at least one week after the treatment.

  • How long do dermal fillers for profile balancing last?

Dermal fillers last between 6 and 18 months.
After about six months, your body naturally breaks down the hyaluronic acid fillers. You have the option to get top-ups once or twice a year to maintain the benefits.

  • What are the benefits of dermal fillers for profile balancing?

The benefits of dermal fillers for profile balancing include:
    ● More balance and symmetry to your overall facial features
    ● Subtly enhanced facial features
    ● Corrected asymmetry
    ● Deeply hydrated skin

  • Has profile balancing with dermal fillers ever gone wrong?
