Treatment Explained

Biostimulators London

Biostimulators are a revolutionary type of dermal filler that stimulate collagen production in the skin, to achieve naturally improved skin texture, tone and vitality.

Unlike dermal filler treatments that are designed to purely restore lost volume, biostimulators trigger your body’s natural production of collagen. This encourages skin regeneration, giving you natural-looking and prolonged results.

We offer a range of market-leading biostimulators in Harley Street and Colindale, London. Depending on your desired outcome, we will recommend the best biostimulator product.

You’ll have your treatment at one of our luxurious, award-winning aesthetic clinics, led by Dr Kaywaan Khan.

Biostimulator treatment options

We offer a range of market-leading biostimulators.

Depending on which part of the face or body you’d like to treat, your skin type, and your desired results, we’ll recommend an approach to achieve the best possible outcome for you.

Our range of biostimulators:

  • Sculptra

Sculptra is an injectable treatment, designed to gradually replace lost collagen.
It is formulated with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which helps restore the underlying structure of the skin.
Sculptra is a highly effective biostimulator for smoothing facial wrinkles. It is formulated to be administered as a series of injections, and the results augment and reach their optimum level over several months.

  • Rich PL

The formulation of Rich PL biostimulator is a combination of hyaluronic acid and poly-L-lactic acid, which deeply hydrates the skin.
The Rich PL solution delivers moisture into the skin, adds volume, and stimulates the fibroblasts – cells which produce collagen.
Rich PL is ideal for correcting wrinkles and restoring volume.

  • Lanluma

As well as addressing signs of ageing on the face, Lanluma is particularly effective for restoring volume in areas of the body such as the neck, décolletage, stomach and buttocks.
This innovative dermal filler also contains poly-L-lactic acid. It is formulated to activate collagen production, creating volume that enhances your body’s natural curves and contours.
The poly-L-lactic acid particles work deep within the skin, so the restored volume created is long-lasting.

  • Ellansé

Ellansé biostimulator is particularly suited to facial rejuvenation. Its formulation has a 2-in-1 action.
It initially corrects wrinkles and folds by rebuilding and rejuvenating the skin structure layer by layer.
Ellansé then stimulates the body’s natural collagen production, to help resolve the underlying causes of facial ageing.

The science behind

Injectable biostimulators act on the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, to stimulate fibroblast cells to produce collagen. This has a lasting, regenerative effect.

Treatment with biostimulators is minimally invasive, with little or no downtime.

The effect of treatment is gradual, and augments over a few months after the initial treatment. The results can last up to two years or even longer.

Biostimulators contain deeply hydrating hyaluronic acid, and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA smooths and plumps the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. It also acts on the skin cells to stimulate collagen production.

With continued use of biostimulators, the increase in collagen production will slow cellular damage and lead to improved skin elasticity, and reduced lines and wrinkles.

Research has also demonstrated the efficacy of biostimulators to restore skin volume in areas of the body such as the neck, décolletage, buttocks and thighs.

  • What are biostimulators?

Biostimulators are a type of dermal filler, which stimulate collagen production in the skin to achieve naturally improved skin texture, tone and vitality.
They are used to reduce the signs of ageing on the face, and to restore volume on areas of the body such as the neck, décolletage, buttocks and thighs.
Their action in the skin augments over time, so that optimal results can be seen after several months.

  • Is treatment with biostimulators safe?

Biostimulators are usually safe and effective. There can be some risks as with any skin injectables. However, when biostimulators are administered by a trained medical professional, risks are minimised.
The greatest risk of having treatment with an inexperienced practitioner is incorrect injection of the product. If the biostimulator enters a blood vessel, blood supply can be blocked to that part of the skin.

  • Does biostimulator treatment hurt?

There may be slight discomfort during treatment, but this is minimised by the application of a topical anaesthetic cream beforehand.

  • What are the pre-treatment requirements and advice?

You will have a pre-treatment health check with us to ensure your suitability for treatment.
Please inform us of any significant health problems or neuromuscular conditions you may have.
Biostimulators treatment may be unsuitable for you if you are taking certain medication.
Prior to your treatment taking place, to reduce any risk of infection, the treatment area should be hair and make-up free. Therefore, we advise that you should shave and remove any make-up before arriving at your appointment.
You may wish to take paracetamol one hour prior to arrival to minimise discomfort during the procedure. When you arrive at our clinic we may apply a numbing cream which can take up to 30 minutes to take effect.
Smoking or alcohol may affect the healing process. Therefore, these are best avoided prior to and at least one week after the treatment.

  • What are the side effects of biostimulators treatment?

Most patients will experience some tenderness and swelling around the injection sites following their biostimulators treatment. This should resolve within the first 24 hours, but may continue for up to a week.
After this, you may notice some slight redness over a few days following treatment, whilst the skin is healing.
Any bruising that occurs can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. We recommend applying aloe vera gel/arnica ointment and cold packs to hasten recovery.

  • What aftercare is required?

Your practitioner will give you full information about any aftercare requirements following your biostimulators treatment.
You should avoid touching the treatment area until 6 hours after the treatment. After this period, the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied.
Whilst the initial swelling and redness are healing, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (such as a solarium or sunbathing) or extreme cold.
For the first 4 hours following treatment, you should avoid bending or lying excessively. Vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours.

  • How long do biostimulators last?

The effect of biostimulator treatment is gradual, and augments over a few months after the initial treatment. The results can last up to two years or even longer.

  • What are the benefits of biostimulators?

The benefits of biostimulator treatment include:
    ● Smoothed lines and wrinkles, lifted and tightened skin
    ● Deeply hydrated skin
    ● Prolonged collagen stimulation to regenerate and repair
    ● Natural-looking results

  • Has biostimulator treatment ever gone wrong?

We're not aware of any problems following treatment, where it was administered by a trained medical professional.

  • What does biostimulator treatment cost?

Please see above for our price list for treatment with biostimulators.
