Why is men’s health different?
Men and women may have different health needs, especially when it comes to aesthetic treatments. Both men and women should have access to luxury treatments to improve their health and wellbeing, and boost self-confidence.
As women tend to find it easier to talk about and seek help with their health than men, a male focused approach can make it easier to start the conversation. Common conditions include hair loss, low libido, erectile dysfunction, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and muscle atrophy.
What health issues affect men?
Common health issues that affect men include:
- Low libido
- Erectile dysfunction
- Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
- Muscle atrophy
- Hair loss
Low libido
A decreased interest in sex that, when experienced over a long period of time, can lead to a loss of confidence and a feeling of losing one’s identity. Causes of low libido include low levels of testosterone, side effects of treatments like anti-depressants and blood pressure medications, depression, and low self-esteem. It may also be linked with erectile dysfunction (see the next paragraph).
Erectile dysfunction
Also known as impotence, this is the inability to get and maintain an erection and including only having a partial erection. It can have a significant effect on an individual’s sex life, affecting romantic and sexual relationships.
One of the most common physical causes is reduced blood flow to the penis. Other physical causes include problems with blood pressure, diabetes, low testosterone levels and side effects of some medications. Psychological factors like stress and depression can also cause erectile dysfunction.
Hyperhidrosis
A condition where the body sweats excessively, even when there’s no need to cool down. It commonly occurs in the upper face and head, under the arms, in the hands, feet and groin areas. For sufferers of hyperhidrosis, it can be a source of embarrassment and distress that affects choices of clothes, travel plans and even whether or not to hold someone’s hand.
Muscle atrophy
Loss of muscle tissue and strength, which leads to the muscles becoming smaller and can create a visible difference in body shape.
The main cause of muscle atrophy is being unable to regularly exercise the affected muscles. This may happen following injury or illness, or it may be the result of a sedentary lifestyle.
Hair loss
Hair loss in men is often caused by male pattern baldness (also called androgenetic alopecia). Hair thins and recedes on the top of the head and at the temples, and eventually a bald patch develops in the middle of the scalp. Some men may lose all their hair, becoming bald. It is a common condition, with 80% of men experiencing some hair loss by the age of 70. This hair loss can lead to a loss of confidence and self-esteem.
How to take care of men’s health?
The exact combination of health concerns will be different for each individual. Therefore it’s important to discuss all your concerns with a qualified practitioner who can carefully assess your overall health and recommend a personalised treatment plan.

Some men’s health conditions (like low libido and erectile dysfunction) are influenced by testosterone levels. At Hannah London, we offer testosterone blood testing, to determine whether or not this is a factor. We also offer carefully selected supplements to support male hormone function.
Clinic based treatments

Where testosterone levels are low, this can also be treated with testosterone injections at one of our private clinics.
PRP
PRP
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is used for both penile enlargement and to treat erectile dysfunction. It improves blood flow to the penis by stimulating cell growth in erectile tissue.

Botox (botulinum toxin) can be used to provide relief from hyperhidrosis (or excessive sweating). It acts on the nerves supplying the sweat glands, blocking nerve signals that simulate sweat production.
