When Should I Book Private STI Testing?
We recommend that patients should wait at least two weeks after unprotected sex before booking an appointment. This is because not all infections show up on a test immediately.
For bacterial infections like chlamydia and gonorrhoea, you should wait two weeks following unprotected sex to book your test. Blood-borne infections like HIV, syphilis and hepatitis can take up to three months to appear. However, if you are experiencing symptoms, you should get tested as soon as possible.
