Treatment Explained

Polynucleotides London

Polynucleotides treatment rejuvenates the skin, addressing the signs of ageing that start in our early to mid-twenties. These include skin slackness, fine lines, wrinkles, and the effects of sun damage such as pigmentation and broken vessels.

Polynucleotides stimulate the skin’s ability to regenerate and heal. This innovative treatment delivers molecules called nucleotides directly into the skin via an injectable skin booster solution.

The result is deeply hydrated skin, improved skin texture with smoothed lines, and reduced appearance of scarring and sun damage. Skin is lifted and firmed.

Polynucleotides also bring anti-inflammatory properties that aid skin healing.

We offer polynucleotides treatment in Harley Street and Colindale, London. You’ll have your treatment at one of our luxurious, award-winning aesthetic clinics, led by Dr Kaywaan Khan.

Polynucleotides treatment London,
treatment benefits

By stimulating collagen production, polynucleotides address the signs of ageing at a cellular level to achieve significant benefits for skin rejuvenation:

  • Improved skin texture

Polynucleotides deeply hydrate the skin and achieve visible improvements in skin texture.
Fine lines and wrinkles are reduced. Skin is noticeably refreshed and revitalised.

  • Lifted, firmer skin

With polynucleotides treatment, your skin will be visibly firmer and lifted.
By stimulating collagen production, polynucleotides improve the structure of the skin, leaving it plumped and more youthful.

  • Reduced scarring and pigmentation

Polynucleotides have a naturally restorative effect on the skin.
By acting on dermal cells, this treatment encourages skin regeneration to improve the appearance of scarring, and the effects of sun damage such as pigmentation and broken vessels.

  • Skin healing

Polynucleotides have anti-inflammatory properties, which assist with skin healing.

The science
behind polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are delivered to the skin via an injectable skin booster solution. Polynucleotides are chains of molecules called nucleotides. These molecules form the structure of DNA.

Polynucleotides act on dermal cells called fibroblasts to produce collagen fibres. This action stimulates the skin’s natural ability to repair damaged tissue. The result is overall rejuvenation of the skin including improvement in skin texture and appearance, and assisted skin healing.

We usually recommend 2 or 3 treatments, 2 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results.

You will start to see the effects of polynucleotides treatment 7-10 days following treatment, and results last for up to 12 months.

  • What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are high molecular weight DNA and RNA chain structures.

Polynucleotides treatment is delivered via an injectable skin booster solution.

These molecules act on the dermal cells to stimulate collagen production to rejuvenate and retexturize the skin. Polynucleotides treatment is also deeply hydrating and has anti-inflammatory properties.

  • What are the best polynucleotide brands?

The range of polynucleotide brands that we use to treat our patients includes Lumi Eyes, Ameela, PhilArt, Nucleofill and Vitaran. Our expert practitioner will recommend the most appropriate brand for your skin type and desired results.

In our experience, Nucleofill and Vitaran achieve the best results.

  • Is treatment with polynucleotides safe?

Polynucleotides are usually safe and effective. There can be some risks as with any skin injectables. However, when polynucleotides are administered by a trained medical professional, risks are minimised.

  • Does polynucleotides treatment hurt?

There may be slight discomfort during treatment, but this is minimised by the application of a topical anaesthetic cream beforehand.

  • What are the pre-treatment requirements and advice?

You will have a pre-treatment health check with us to ensure your suitability for treatment.

Please inform us of any significant health problems or neuromuscular conditions you may have.

Polynucleotides treatment may be unsuitable for you if you are taking certain medication.

Prior to your treatment taking place, to reduce any risk of infection, the treatment area should be hair and make-up free. Therefore, we advise that you should shave and remove any make-up before arriving at your appointment.

You may wish to take paracetamol one hour prior to arrival to minimise discomfort during the procedure. When you arrive at our clinic we may apply a numbing cream which can take up to 30 minutes to take effect.

Smoking or alcohol may affect the healing process. Therefore, these are best avoided prior to and at least one week after the treatment.

  • What are the side effects of polynucleotides treatment?

Most patients will experience some tenderness and swelling around the injection sites following their polynucleotides treatment. This should resolve within the first 24 hours, but may continue for up to a week.

After this, you may notice some slight redness over a few days following treatment, whilst the skin is healing.

Any bruising that occurs can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. We recommend applying aloe vera gel/arnica ointment and cold packs to hasten recovery.

  • What are the benefits of polynucleotides?

The benefits of polynucleotides treatment include:
    ● Refreshed, rejuvenated skin with smoothed lines and wrinkles
    ● Improved skin texture
    ● Lifted, firmed skin
    ● Reduced scarring and pigmentation
    ● Anti-inflammatory properties aid skin healing

  • What aftercare is required?

Your practitioner will give you full information about any aftercare requirements following your polynucleotides treatment.

You should avoid touching the treatment area until 6 hours after the treatment. After this period, the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied.

Whilst the initial swelling and redness are healing, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (such as a solarium or sunbathing) or extreme cold.

For the first 4 hours following treatment, you should avoid bending or lying excessively. Vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours.

  • How long do polynucleotides last?

Following the recommended course of treatment, results last for 6 to 12 months

  • Has polynucleotides treatment ever gone wrong?

We're not aware of any problems following treatment, where it was administered by a trained medical professional.

  • What does polynucleotides treatment cost?

Please see above for our price list for polynucleotides treatment.
