Treatment Explained
PRP treatment for erectile dysfunction (P-Shot) in London
Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is a very common concern, which particularly affects men over the age of 40. Symptoms include inability to get an erection or difficulty sustaining an erection during sex. Common causes include stress, tiredness and alcohol consumption.
Frequent erectile dysfunction can be caused by certain medications or underlying medical issues such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, hormone issues and mental health concerns. That is why the NHS recommends that you should see your GP if erectile dysfunction keeps occurring. Well-known treatments for this issue include lifestyle changes and oral medications such as Viagra or Cialis.
However, PRP injections or the Priapus Shot (P-Shot) is an alternative therapy that is becomingly increasingly recognised for its beneficial effects on erectile dysfunction.
PRP contains a high concentration of the patient’s blood platelets, which include proteins called growth factors. These regenerative components help encourage tissue and blood vessel repair, as well as increase blood flow, to improve erectile function.
We offer PRP for erectile dysfunction (P-Shot) at our London Harley Street and Colindale clinics.
You will experience your treatment at one of our luxurious, award-winning London aesthetic clinics, led by Dr Kaywaan Khan.

PRP for erectile dysfunction (P-Shot)
treatment benefits
PRP is a well-established aesthetic and medical treatment. Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy is used for regenerative treatments such as the Vampire Facial, as well as for the treatment or hair loss and penile enlargement.
PRP for erectile dysfunction (ED), known as the Priapus Shot or P-Shot, is an alternative and emerging use of this renowned rejuvenating therapy, which is why the terms ‘penile tissue regeneration’ and ‘penile rejuvenation’ have been coined.
-
Improved penile blood flow and circulation
PRP treatment encourages new tissue growth and supports improved vascular health within the penis, helping to enhance blood flow naturally.
-
Enhanced erection duration and firmness
By enabling improved blood flow, PRP treatment (P-Shot) can lead to firmer and longer-lasting erections.
-
Long-lasting effects
The effects of PRP treatment for erectile dysfunction can last for up to 18 months, offering a longer-term solution compared to many temporary treatments.
-
Minimally invasive, natural treatment with no downtime
This treatment is completely natural, as it utilises the patient’s own blood. It is administered at one of our London clinics in Harley Street or Colindale and takes less than 30 minutes to perform.
There is no downtime, allowing you to resume your normal daily activities immediately after your appointment.
-
Potential increase in penis size and sensitivity
Some patients report enhanced penis size as well as increased sensitivity following PRP treatment.
-
Treatment for Peyronie’s Disease (penile curvature)

The science behind
PRP treatment for erectile dysfunction
(the Priapus or P-Shot)
The name of the Priapus or P-shot is taken from the Greek god of fertility and male virility. The treatment itself is rooted in established science.
To separate Platelet-Rich-Plasma or PRP, a small sample of the patient’s blood is taken and spun in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the plasma and platelets from the other parts of the blood.
The resulting PRP has a much higher concentration of platelets than the patient’s blood. Once the PRP is developed, it is then injected into specific areas of the patient’s penis – along the shaft and into the glans and base.
PRP improves blood flow and stimulates the growth of new cells in erectile tissues. Many of these benefits are experienced immediately after treatment, with full results seen after one month.

What is erectile dysfunction (ED)?
Erectile dysfunction (ED), sometimes referred to as impotence, is difficulty in achieving or maintaining an erection during sex. It is a very common condition and can affect men at any age, although it becomes more prevalent over the age of 40. ED may occur occasionally or become persistent, and its severity can vary from mild to more significant difficulties.
-
What causes ED?
Common causes include stress, tiredness, anxiety and alcohol consumption. Medical conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, hormonal imbalance and cardiovascular disease can also contribute, as can certain medications. Mental health factors, including depression and anxiety, may also influence ED. Ongoing symptoms should always be assessed by a medical professional.
-
What is PRP for erectile dysfunction?
PRP for erectile dysfunction (also known as the P-Shot London or Priapus Shot) is a regenerative treatment using Platelet-Rich Plasma derived from your own blood to improve erectile function. The concentrated platelets contain growth factors that stimulate tissue repair, enhance blood flow and encourage penile tissue regeneration.
-
How does the P-Shot work?
The P-Shot works by injecting Platelet-Rich Plasma into targeted areas of the penis (shaft, glans or base). Growth factors help stimulate new blood vessel formation, improve circulation, encourage tissue repair and support stronger, longer-lasting erections.
-
Is the P-Shot safe?
Yes. The Priapus Shot is considered safe and minimally invasive because it uses your own blood, reducing the risk of allergic reaction. All treatments at Hannah London follow a full consultation and medical review.
-
Who can have PRP for erectile dysfunction?
This treatment may be suitable for men who experience ongoing ED, have not achieved satisfactory results with oral medications such as Viagra or Cialis, or are seeking a longer-lasting, non-daily treatment option. Suitability is confirmed during consultation.
-
What is PRP treatment for ED like?
A small blood sample is taken and processed to extract PRP. The Platelet-Rich Plasma is then injected into targeted areas of the penis using a fine needle. The procedure takes around 30 minutes and is performed at our Harley Street or Colindale clinics.
-
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients report minimal discomfort. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand and a very fine needle is used. Any mild discomfort resolves quickly.
-
How long does PRP for erectile dysfunction take to work?
Some men notice improvements within a week, although optimal results typically develop over one to three months as tissue regeneration progresses.
-
How long do P-Shot results last?
The benefits of PRP for erectile dysfunction typically last 12 to 18 months. Results vary depending on individual health factors, lifestyle and underlying causes of ED.
-
Will I need repeat treatments?
Repeat treatments may be recommended to maintain the benefits of PRP for ED. Your practitioner will advise based on your response to treatment.
-
Is there any downtime after treatment?
There is minimal to no downtime. Most patients return to normal daily activities immediately following PRP treatment for erectile dysfunction.
-
Are there any side-effects?
Side-effects are generally mild and temporary. These may include minor swelling, bruising at the injection site and brief discomfort.
-
Does PRP for ED increase penis size?
Some patients report increased penis size and improved sensitivity following PRP treatment. While the primary goal is improved erectile function and circulation, enhanced tissue regeneration may contribute to size improvements.
-
Can PRP help with Peyronie’s Disease?
Platelet-Rich Plasma promotes tissue regeneration and may help reduce scar tissue and improve penile curvature associated with Peyronie’s Disease. Suitability is assessed during consultation.
-
Does PRP for erectile dysfunction affect urination?
PRP injections target the shaft, glans and base of the penis and do not directly affect the urethra or bladder. Therefore, normal urination should not be affected.
-
How does PRP compare to Viagra or Cialis?
Unlike oral medications taken on demand, PRP therapy aims to improve underlying blood flow and tissue quality. Many men choose PRP as a natural erectile dysfunction treatment rather than relying solely on tablets.
-
What are the benefits and risks of PRP for erectile dysfunction?
Benefits include improved erectile function, potential increase in penis size, results lasting 12 to 18 months and no downtime. Risks are minimal, and side-effects are typically mild and temporary when performed by a qualified medical professional.
-
What is the cost of PRP for erectile dysfunction?
