Treatment Explained

Sculptra aesthetic treatment London

A common misconception is that we only lose volume in our skin due to the natural ageing process, but our skin’s youthful fullness can also be affected by factors including excessive sun exposure, weight loss, smoking and various medical conditions. If you are looking for a treatment that will lift and tighten your skin and help regain its youthful appearance, Sculptra could be the ideal solution for you.

Rather than a dermal filler, Sculptra is a biostimulator treatment, which means that it has been specifically formulated to stimulate prolonged collagen production. Collagen is a vital component in our skin’s ability to fight the signs of ageing such as skin dullness, laxity and the formation of wrinkles. It provides the skin with its strength and elasticity, but over time our natural stores of collagen decrease.

At our Harley Street and Colindale, London clinics, we offer Sculptra treatment to stimulate collagen production and help you regain your skin’s youthful volume and radiance, giving you a naturally lifted and sculpted appearance.

You will experience your treatment at one of our luxurious, award-winning London aesthetic clinics, led by Dr Kaywaan Khan.

Sculptra aesthetic treatment benefits

State-of-the-art Sculptra biostimulator treatment is a clinically proven, non-surgical injectable designed to restore volume, lift the skin, and stimulate long-term collagen production from within. Rather than adding instant volume like traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra works gradually by encouraging your body’s natural collagen regeneration, resulting in subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation over time.

  • Regain facial volume

Sculptra treatment in London is not only a collagen booster, it can also be used to overcome facial bone loss. By targeting the deeper dermal layers, Sculptra treatment helps you regain facial volume and radiance, achieving a naturally lifted and sculpted appearance.

  • Treatments for the face and body

As well as the face, Sculptra biostimulator treatment in London can be used to promote collagen on other areas of the body where the signs of volume loss are evident. Sculptra aesthetic treatment is effective at restoring youthful fullness to the hands, neck, décolletage, stomach, buttocks, arms and legs.

  • Combat cellulites

Sculptra is an excellent, non-invasive alternative to surgery if you want to get rid of cellulite. At least 80% of women experience cellulite and it is predetermined by our genetics, which means it is impossible to get rid of completely even with regular exercise and a healthy diet. Other options for cellulite removal include invasive surgery, which is expensive and has a long recovery period. Collagen restoration works the same way on both the face and body. Therefore, when cellulite dimples are treated with Sculptra, collagen is stimulated to replenish lost volume.

  • Non-surgical treatment with no downtime

Sculptra aesthetic treatment is a gentle, effective, non-surgical solution to gradual skin rejuvenation for the face and body. You can go on with your life as normal, with no downtime.

  • Long-lasting results

A significant advantage of Sculptra is the long-lasting results that can be achieved. Patients typically see improvements in their skin plumpness and firmness lasting between 18 and 24 months following a course of Sculptra biostimulator treatment.

The science behind Sculptra aesthetic treatment

Sculptra is a bio-stimulatory injectable cosmetic treatment that has been formulated to stimulate prolonged collagen production.

Sculptra contains PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid), which is a biocompatible, biodegradable substance.Rather than immediately adding volume to the skin, as with dermal fillers, Sculptra acts on the dermis (the middle layer of the skin) to stimulate fibroblast cells to produce collagen. This has a lasting, regenerative effect. The effect of treatment is gradual and increases over several months after the initial treatment(s). The results can last up to two years.

As well as the face, Sculptra treatment can be used to regenerate the skin on areas of the body such as the hands, neck, décolletage, buttocks and thighs.Treatment with Sculptra is minimally invasive, with little or no downtime.

  • What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable bio-stimulating skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates collagen production to achieve naturally fuller, tighter and regenerated skin.

Sculptra is used to reduce the signs of ageing on the face and to restore volume on areas of the body such as the hands, neck, décolletage, buttocks and thighs.

  • Who is the ideal candidate for Sculptra treatment?

Sculptra is often recommended for patients who wish to correct volume loss and combat the signs of ageing on the face or body.

It has been formulated to restore volume to hollow facial features, boost skin radiance and minimise the appearance of cellulite.

  • What is the procedure during Sculptra treatment?

A Sculptra treatment typically lasts between 15 and 30 minutes and follows the same process for both face and body treatments.

    Step one: cleansing and numbing
The skin is cleansed to remove impurities, followed by the application of a numbing agent to ensure comfort. The practitioner then marks the treatment areas.

    Step two: injections
Sculptra is carefully injected using a fine needle and placed in a lattice structure beneath the skin to stimulate collagen formation.

    Step three: moisturising and massage
The treated area is gently massaged to evenly distribute the product. Patients are required to continue massaging for five days after treatment.

  • How often is Sculptra treatment recommended?

We usually recommend an initial course of three treatments spaced four weeks apart to initiate collagen production.

Following this, one maintenance treatment per year is advised. As collagen production varies between individuals, your practitioner will tailor your treatment plan to your needs.

  • How should I prepare for Sculptra treatment?

To reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding, patients are advised to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medication for 24 hours prior to treatment.

  • What aftercare is required?

Patients should follow the 5-5-5 massage rule: massage the treated area for five minutes, five times a day, for five days.

Ice packs may be used to reduce swelling. Avoid intense exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment. Staying well hydrated is also recommended.

Your practitioner will provide full aftercare instructions.

  • Does Sculptra treatment hurt?

There may be mild discomfort during treatment, but this is minimised with the use of a topical anaesthetic cream applied beforehand.

  • What are the side effects of Sculptra treatment?

The most common side effects are temporary redness and swelling at the injection sites, which usually subside quickly.

Very rarely, small lumps may form if the product is injected too superficially. This is uncommon when treatment is performed by an experienced medical practitioner.

  • How long does Sculptra last?

Results develop gradually over several months as collagen production increases. The effects of Sculptra can last up to two years or longer.

  • Is treatment with Sculptra safe?

Biostimulator treatments are generally safe when administered by trained medical professionals. While all injectable treatments carry some risk, complications are rare when Sculptra is performed correctly.

  • What are the benefits of Sculptra?

Benefits include smoother lines and wrinkles, lifted and tightened skin, prolonged collagen stimulation, and natural-looking rejuvenation.

  • What does Sculptra treatment cost?
