This leads to general skin laxity, a loss of volume and the formation of lines, folds and wrinkles. This can happen throughout the facial features, but can be particularly visible in certain areas.
Full facial rejuvenation with dermal fillers restores youthful fullness to the skin.
Carefully targeted injections fill out lines, folds and areas where hollows have formed such as under the eyes. They can be used to lift and add definition to the cheeks and chin, and to plump the lips.
Dermal fillers are also deeply hydrating, so they make the skin feel wonderfully smooth and soft.

Fill out frown lines and ‘elevens’
As we age, the natural loss of collagen and elastin means that our skin bears the signs of everyday expressions, such as raising our eyebrows and frowning. These lines can become permanent and be visible even when we are not making these facial expressions.
‘Elevens’, or glabellar lines, are two vertical lines that are situated in the thick area of skin between the eyebrows (the glabella). These lines are associated with frowning.
Dermal fillers fill out the deeper lines on the forehead and glabella to leave your skin looking smoother and more youthful. -
Smooth out crow’s feet
‘Crow’s feet’ is the name given to the fine lines that fan out from the outer eye, they are often called ‘laughter lines’ as they appear when we smile and laugh – over time they can become permanent.
By carefully targeting small amounts of dermal filler around the eye area, the crow’s feet that form at the sides, and the fine lines that form in the delicate skin under the eyes, can be visibly smoothed. -
Under eye (tear trough) rejuvenation
As the delicate skin under the eyes becomes more lined, the upper cheeks lose their youthful fullness. This can cause hollows and dark circles to form under the eyes.
Tear trough fillers gently plump out fine lines and wrinkles, and fill the hollowed area under the eyes to reduce the appearance of dark circles. The result is a refreshed, rejuvenated appearance. -
Lifting cheeks
Dermal fillers are highly effective at restoring lost volume to the cheeks.
They bring back youthful fullness to the mid face and, at the same time, have a lifting effect on the lower face. -
Smoothing smile lines (Nasolabial folds)
Over time, the lines that appear when we smile or laugh can become deeper and ageing. ‘Nasolabial folds’ are the creases that run from each side of the nose down to the corners of the mouth.
Dermal fillers plump out these folds and restore youthful volume to the mid face. -
Supporting Marionette lines and preventing jowling
These lines extend from each corner of the mouth down the chin – they are so called as they bear a resemblance to the jointed mouth of a Marionette puppet.
Marionette lines are caused by the downward sagging that occurs as our skin ages and becomes slacker.
With dermal fillers, we can fill these lines and restore volume in the lower face. -
Upturning a downturned mouth
Deepening oral commissures can worsen the appearance of a downturned mouth. These folds are a very common side-effect of the ageing process.
As skin loses its youthful structure, skin laxity can draw the corners of the mouth down, causing an unwanted facial expression.
With dermal fillers, we gently fill oral commissure lines to disguise them. Lip fillers are often used in combination, to restore volume to the lips and enhance the overall rejuvenating effect. -
Rehydrating lost lip structure
Plump and hydrated lips are a sign of youth, but as we age, volume in the lips decreases.
Fine lines around the edge of the mouth, called ‘perioral lines’, can also form and become deeper. These lines are associated with pursing the lips and are often exacerbated by smoking.
Dermal fillers gently fill perioral lines to give a smoother, more youthful ‘vermillion border’ or lip line.
Lip fillers plump the lips and deeply hydrate them to leave them soft and smooth. -
Chin and jawline restructuring
Skin laxity and sagging jowls can cause a lack of definition in the chin and jawline.
Dermal fillers are ideal for subtly recontouring the lower face, giving a more defined, youthful profile. -

The science behind dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are rich in hyaluronic acid. This naturally occurring substance in the body is responsible for maintaining moisture levels in the skin and supporting the skin’s structure.
As we age, production of hyaluronic acid diminishes, which causes skin laxity, loss of volume, and fine lines and wrinkles to form.
The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is gel-like in texture, so when injected in targeted areas of the skin it restores volumes, fills lines and folds, and has a lifting effect.
The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is also deeply hydrating. It acts as a magnet for moisture, so your skin feels and appears hydrated, healthy and plump.
Juvéderm dermal filler
Juvéderm is a highly effective dermal filler. It can add volume throughout your face, filling lines and hollows, and achieving overall rejuvenation. However, it isn’t the only dermal filler which excels at lifting and plumping your skin. Your practitioner will carefully choose from a range of trusted filler brands, including Restylane and Teoxane, to select the best one for your facial structure and desired results.

What is full face rejuvenation with dermal fillers?
The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is a gel-like substance that restores volume in the skin and has a smoothing, lifting effect to refresh your entire face.
Dermal fillers can be used to fill lines and folds, add volume to tear troughs, bring youthful fullness to the cheeks and lower face, and to recontour the jawline.
Dermal fillers also deeply hydrate the skin to give a plump and healthy appearance. -
Is treatment with dermal fillers safe?
Dermal fillers are usually safe and effective. There can be some risks as with any skin injectables. However, when dermal fillers are administered by a trained medical professional, risks are minimised. Incorrect filler injection can be reversed with a treatment to dissolve the filler.
The greatest risk of having filler treatment with an inexperienced practitioner is incorrect injection of the filler. If the filler enters a blood vessel, blood supply can be blocked to that part of the face. -
Does dermal filler treatment for full face rejuvenation hurt?
There may be slight discomfort during treatment, but this is minimised by the application of a topical anaesthetic cream beforehand.

What are the pre-treatment requirements and advice?
You will have a pre-treatment health check with us to ensure your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.
Please inform us of any significant health problems or neuromuscular conditions you may have.
Dermal fillers may be unsuitable for you if you are taking certain medication.
Prior to your treatment taking place, to reduce any risk of infection, the treatment area should be hair and make-up free. Therefore, we advise that you should shave and remove any make-up before arriving at your appointment.
You may wish to take paracetamol one hour prior to arrival to minimise discomfort during the procedure. When you arrive at our clinic we may apply a numbing cream which can take up to 30 minutes to take effect.
Smoking or alcohol may affect the healing process. Therefore, these are best avoided prior to and at least one week after the treatment.

What are the side effects of treatment with dermal fillers?
Most patients will experience some tenderness and swelling around the injection sites following their filler treatment. This should resolve within the first 24 hours, but it may continue for up to a week.
After this, you may notice some slight redness over a few days following treatment, whilst the skin is healing.
Any bruising that occurs can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. We recommend applying aloe vera gel/arnica ointment and cold packs to speed up recovery.

What aftercare is required?
Your practitioner will give you full information about any aftercare requirements following your treatment with fillers.
You should avoid touching the treatment area until 6 hours after the treatment. After this period, the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied.
Whilst the initial swelling and redness are healing, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (such as a solarium or sunbathing) or extreme cold.
For the first 4 hours following treatment, you should avoid bending or lying excessively. Vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least 24 hours.

We're not aware of any problems following treatment, where it was administered by a trained medical professional.
