treatment benefits

  • Calf pain reduction

Botox temporarily blocks certain nerve signals, which prevents the muscle from contracting. This leads to muscle relaxation to alleviate pain and tension.
In conditions such as dystonia, where muscles contract uncontrollably, botox can help to reduce the involuntary contractions, and manage the associated pain and discomfort.
For patients who have overactive calf muscles which are a source of pain, botox provides relief by reducing muscle tension, stiffness and spasms.

  • Calf slimming

Some patients are conscious of having larger, muscular calves, which may have resulted from intense exercise, sports activities, or from frequent wearing of high heeled shoes.
Targeted botox injections are a gentle, successful way to reduce calf size and achieve a slimmer contour.
The botulinum toxin, or botox, is well-known for its use in aesthetic medicine for gently reducing facial muscle activity to minimise expression lines and wrinkles.
Botox can also be effectively used to relax the calf muscle to create a slimmer contour to the lower leg.

  • Calf enlargement

We also work with patients who wish to enhance their calves by creating a shapelier profile.
Carefully placed dermal fillers are an effective way to instantly create the desired shape with no down time.
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers such as HYAcorp have a higher molecular weight, which makes them ideal for use in larger parts of the body to create the required contour.

Calf fillers

Botox, or botulinum toxin, works by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, which prevents muscles from contracting.

When botox is carefully injected into the gastrocnemius muscle, which is the most prominent muscle in the calf, muscle tension is reduced.

This reduction in muscle activity results in a smoother and slimmer profile.

For pain relief, the botox is carefully targeted into the gastrocnemius and/or the soleus muscles, to reduce tension.

This alleviates muscle stiffness and spasms, thereby reducing pain.

You can be reassured that although injections are being made into your calf muscle, there is no restriction to mobility or to the function of the calves.

Dermal fillers are rich in hyaluronic acid. This naturally occurring substance is present in the body’s connective tissue and gives our skin its structure and a plump, hydrated appearance.

The effects of different hyaluronic acid fillers are very much related to their concentration.

Cross-linked hyaluronic acid fillers, such as HYAcorp, are ideal for use in the calves. Linking the molecules together creates a higher weight molecular structure, which is ideal for use in larger areas of the body.
